Theatre has played a huge role in my life since I was in 6th grade. The performing arts have taught me so much about building confidence and putting yourself in another’s shoes. I will never forget those who have encouraged me throughout all of the shows I’ve been in. Julie Hackmann, Dave Mittel, and Michele Rubino come to mind of some outstanding directors who transformed my life and who I am today. If it weren’t for the opportunity Julie Hackmann gave me in 8th grade as the part of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz I know that my faith in myself wouldn’t be the same. This is why I believe it is so important to keep the arts in schools. Children develop a whole knew spectrum of creativity through performing and in this time, in a child’s life is when dreams are formed.
